      <description>EWB General Meeting&lt;br/&gt;Wednesday May 7, 2008&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;EWB is proud to have special guest speaker John Wind at our 5/7/08 General Meeting. John will be will be speaking about  EWB-SFP chapter activities including projects, appropriate technology team, and what skills their members can offer.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;John Wind has technical expertise in membrane-based separations for gas&lt;br/&gt;purification, renewable energy, and cogeneration power systems.  John holds&lt;br/&gt;a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin (2002)&lt;br/&gt;and a BS in chemical engineering from Purdue University (1996).  Prior to&lt;br/&gt;joining Chevron, John also worked for the University of Washington, Air&lt;br/&gt;Products and Lyondell Petrochemical.  He joined Chevron in 2004 where he&lt;br/&gt;contributed to the development of new membrane materials and processes for natural gas, hydrogen and ethanol separations.  His current work focuses on working with Chevron’s business units to deal proactively with emerging global issues such as greenhouse gas mitigation, water sustainability and sustainable community development.  John is also assistant manager for the&lt;br/&gt;Advanced Energy Focus Area, which manages a broad portfolio of renewable&lt;br/&gt;energy and fuels projects.  He is an active volunteer for the San Francisco&lt;br/&gt;Professionals chapter of Engineers Without Borders-USA (EWB).</description>

      <description>The Kenya team is selling several items on behalf of their partners: African Children’s Project and Visting Nurse and Hospice Care of Santa Barbara (VNHCSB.) Proceeds will go toward improving the infrastructure of a health clinic in Lwanda, Kenya as well as supporting orphaned children from the area.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;The pots were donated to the African Children’s Project by local nurseries. They are asking for a $2 donation per pot. Pots range in size and shape. Please see the link to pictures.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Also for sale are calendars of art work created by HIV/AIDS orphans in Mbita, a western Kenyan village. VNHCSB and Viagenco Comprehensive Care in Mbita raises the funds to support the schooling of over 130 orphaned children.
