Secure Socket Layer (SSL) refers to the standard method for encryption and authentication on the Internet. This added security provides you with protection against having your password stolen on an insecure connection. | SSL configuration is mandatory if you are sending mail from a network outside the College of Engineering. | Configuring your Email Client for SSL (outgoing mail) Email programs that do NOT support SSL
SSL is NOT supported in older email programs such as Netscape 3.x, Eudora 3.x, Eudora Lite, Netscape Communicator 4.7.5 (Mac). Eudora does not support SSL in Mac OS X 10.0 or 10.1. You must upgrade to Mac OS X 10.2 or later in order to use SSL with Mac Eudora. If you do not use one of the versions that support SSL, you will need to upgrade to a higher version. Note that if upgrading, most programs will keep your settings and messages, but there are no guarantees that nothing will be lost.
