Associate Director of the Institute for Energy Efficiency

UC Santa Barbara’s College of Engineering is seeking an Associate Director of the UC Santa Barbara Institute for Energy Efficiency. Working closely with the Director, the Associate Director will define, develop, and execute a phased strategic plan for the Institute’s launch, growth, and visibility. Responsibilities include managing business development activities and opportunities that lead to expansion and growth of the Institute’s mission; identifying new prospects, market opportunities and other strategic partnerships with governmental agencies, donors and others; and analyzing the competitive landscape and distinctive selling points to strategically place the institute. Salary will be dependent upon qualifications and level of experience, with a range of $105,540 - $131,124.

Minimum requirements:

  • Masters degree or equivalent experience in science and/or engineering fields
  • Four years of experience relevant to the energy field
  • Minimum of five years executive management experience
  • Demonstrated people management and leadership skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Strong team management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and public speaking experience
  • Demonstrated ability in developing strategic partnerships with governmental agencies, donors, industry and other academic institutions
  • Experience in fiscal management, fundraising, and contracts & grants
