Social networking is an extremely large and popular medium that has no representation in the "Off-line" world. The ICE-Breaker is a mobile platform that can wirelessly swap personal user profiles, i.e. Facebook profile, and analyze the similarities and differences to provide its users with better social awareness. A user profile is downloaded from the computer via proprietary software and stored on a Micro SD card. The ICE-Breaker reads the information off the SD Card and begins interacting with any ICE-Breaker within communication range. The ICE Breaker then swaps profiles based on security settings defined by the user along with positioning information from its onboard GPS. Incoming profiles are logged on the Micro SD card and analyzed by the ICE-Breaker.s profile matching algorithm to produce information to be displayed on the 128x128 pixel graphical color LCD.
The Ice Breaker is a completely customizable platform through an interactive graphical user interface. The interface provides control over many of the ICE breakers features, such as privacy and operation modes. Privacy is a key issue in the ICE-Breaker so users can chose what information they share and how they interact with other devices on the network. The ICE-Breaker's profile matching algorithm supports many matching schemes or "modes of operation" intended to provide its users with different compatibility information. Such as employer - employee compatibility at job fairs, colleague to colleague in conventions and also in social life scenarios such as romantic relations or friendship.
